Raf Nava

Is like a tablet of Aspirin after you’ve had too much to drink.

First you feel the pain, then you’re brought back to life. Raf comes to Denver by way of Boise, and has one of those voices that makes you aware of the depths of your soul before you know they even exist. When we met Raf, he was making music as a solo artist, but has since reunited with bandmates from Boise to embark on a jazzier, more psychedelic mission.

We also had the pleasure of filming Raf’s performance at Leon Art Gallery in the pre-quarantine epoch. His rendition of Sam Cooke’s “A Change is Gonna Come” is powerful and serves as a reminder of the equality and justice that has yet to be realized for Black Americans more than 50 years after the Civil Rights Movement.
